Art board (SBS, 300–350 gsm) is the right choice when colour accuracy matters more — when the soap bar itself is vividly coloured and the packaging needs to reflect that precisely, or when the brand design is more editorial and less artisan.

Board weight matters more for soap than people assume. A single bar of 100–120 g needs at minimum 300 gsm to maintain structural integrity in a tuck-end format. Heavier bars (200 g+) benefit from 350–400 gsm or a lock-bottom construction where the base is assembled before packing rather than tucked.

Window Panels, Belly Bands, and Closure Options

Windowed soap boxes use a clear PET film panel die-cut into the face of the box, letting the soap's colour, texture, and any embedded botanicals do the selling from inside the packaging. The window can be rectangular, oval, arch-shaped, or custom die-cut. This format is highly effective for bars where the visual character of the soap — swirled colours, dried flowers, textured surfaces — is the primary purchase trigger at the market stall or boutique shelf.

Belly bands are the minimal alternative — a printed card strip wraps around an unwrapped or tissue-wrapped bar, and the bar is held by the band tension rather than enclosed. This format uses less material, works well for artisan brands that hand-wrap each bar in tissue or wax paper first, and creates a slightly different aesthetic. Sizing for Single Bars, Multipacks, and Gift Sets

Standard single soap bars range from 75 × 45 × 30 mm at the smaller end through to 110 × 65 × 35 mm for larger artisan bars. The box internal dimensions are typically 2–3 mm larger than the bar on each face to allow for easy insertion and removal. For twin-bar or triple-bar sets, we design an appropriately sized box with internal partitions to keep bars separated and stable.

Gift sets with three or more bars are often better served by a rigid box with individual bar compartments — the lid-off reveal of a set of three artisan soaps in a rigid box is a stronger unboxing moment than the same bars in a tuck-end carton.
